PADI MSDT Internship

Ask yourself this; do you want to learn from experienced diving instructors how to become the best diving instructor that you can possibly be? Do you want the guidance and tips on the best way to teach your students each skill? Do you want to hand in your diving resume for your dream job and be able to offer not just Open Water Scuba Instructor but also Specialty Instructor with at least 25 certs? Basically, what I am asking here is…do you want to be more employable? Do I want to climb up that ladder?! Sounds like you’re thinking of becoming a PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer!

Those were a few questions I asked myself before enrolling in my PADI MSDT Internship with Blue Season Bali, and boy was it a step in the right direction. It started with, well, not knowing how to start. I had just completed my PADI Instructor Development Course (HOORAH PADI INSTUCTOR!). Now what…I could teach Open Water, Advanced, Rescue, Divemaster and EFR and that all sounded great, but could I really know how to do all that without ever being hands-on with a student before?? That’s when I decided to climb up the PADI professional ladder and get the experience I need at the same time…

The Master Scuba Diver Trainer rating separates you from being a new Open Water Scuba Instructor and tells your prospective employers that you have teaching experience under your belt. Because let’s be honest, at the end of the day what we are all looking for here is a job. So I completed my IDC, completed my MSDT Prep which included at least 5 PADI Specialty Instructor certifications and now I was ready for my two month MSDT Internship with Blue Season Bali, working my way towards certifying 25 students…

I DID IT! What a way to grow into the instructor I wanted to be and one of the most beneficial experiences I could have for my PADI career! I worked alongside instructors who had an incredible amount to teach me from different ways of teaching skills, different types of skills, different ways of demonstrating, how to handle students with different learning levels and the big one TIME MANAGEMENT TIPS!!! At the end of it we all taught each other something new. Not only did I find my personal style of teaching, but I also learnt the tools I would be using on a daily basis throughout my dive career. I also learnt how to ensure I had the right equipment to do my job. Do yourself a favour and make sure you have the basics; a reliable diving computer, compass, torch, SMB, reel, dive knife, timing device for that 1 minute hover or 30 sec free flow in confined sessions and even that fish & creature ID book for Advanced Open Water courses. NOW LET’S GET TEACHING!! Thanks to Blue Season Bali I am now a PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer and am happy to say I that I can teach Open Water and my Specialty courses with confidence. Much more so than two months ago ! Are you an OW Scuba Instructor who is looking for something new, and thinking about making the next step up that PADI professional ladder by becoming a Master Scuba Diver Trainer ?
