What You Can Expect to Become a PADI Instructor

However, before diving into this course, you have to keep in mind that in order to get this certification, you’ll need to be very committed to the training.

All set? Then it’s time to get things in order and familiarize yourself with the prerequisites you’ll need to meet before you can join the class to become a PADI Instructor in Bali.

• To start, you should already be a certified PADI Assistant Instructor or Divemaster. You may also be an instructor registered with a different training organization with a good standing for a minimum of 6 months. You can check with our PADI Course Director to find out more about the qualifying credentials.
• Be at least 18 years of age
• Be a certified diver for a minimum of 6 months
• You must have 100 logged dives in order to take the Instructor Exams.
• You must show that within the past 24 months, you have trained in first aid and CPR. If you have taken the Emergency First Response course, then this will already be covered.
• You must be fit for diving before you can become a PADI instructor and are required to provide a medical statement from a doctor that was signed within the year.

Becoming a PADI instructor will mean that you will learn how to apply the PADI education system through a number of presentations. You will be expected to present a minimum of 2 teaching presentations in confined water, 2 presentations on knowledge development, and 1 teaching presentation in open water where you integrate the two skills. There are also 14 curriculum presentations that you must participate in.  If you were previously with a different training organization, you are also expected to participate in an extra curriculum that shows you how to teach the RDP.

Before becoming a certified PADI instructor, you will be required to show your competence in each of the 24 dive skills that you will find listed as part of your Skill Evaluation. You will also need to demonstrate competency in Dive theory and are expected to pass a 5-part theory exam, scoring at least 75% per exam.

The PADI Instructor Development Course is an intensive 2 weeks of learning, studying and development, with fun and laughter along the way.
