Becoming a PADI SCUBA Instructor

Looking for a new job ? – Why not become a PADI SCUBA Diving Instructor ?

Tired of the same old, same old?

It reminds me of a lyric from an old Blur song talking about the morning commute to work. “Same old train, same old stain, sat next to same old what’s his name…..”

If this resonates with you then perhaps it’s time for a change, and becoming a PADI scuba diving instructor could be just the thing.

Let me tell you from my personal experience why I think it is one of the best jobs in the world:

  • Living in exotic places

Some of the best diving in the world can be found in what is called the coral triangle formed roughly between Indonesia, Malaysia and the Philippines, essentially South East Asia.  These are all such beautiful and fascinating places that are full of friendly people, wonderful sites to see and great food to eat.  Being a part of the dive industry means you get the chance not just to visit, but also to live there as well!

  • Fantastic weather

Really, speaks for itself!

  • Working with passionate people

Every scuba diving professional I have meet really has a passion for diving.  Working alongside such motivated people makes every day a joy. Becoming a PADI scuba instructor is your ticket to a career underwater, working withe people who really care.

  • Doing something rewarding

Working with students who sail through their courses is great fun. What can be even more rewarding is working with students who find learning to dive more challenging. It honestly is one of the most rewarding experiences being their instructor. Helping them overcome their anxieties and concerns, and make it through to achieve an Open Water Diver rating, for example, is such a joy. They go away feeling absolutely fantastic about themselves, and so do you too!

  • Social life

Because people are so passionate about diving it’s great fun to spend time with them in a social setting as well. I’m doubly blessed as I live in Sanur in Bali, which has so many restaurants and bars to choose from. It’s a real humming social scene.
